Reserves won 4-3 at Deeping today although UCL website shows we lost this is in-correct.
Yaxley FC currently play in the Premier division of the United Counties Football League.
This non-league competition is based on clubs in Cambridgeshire, Huntingdonshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire.
Famous ex UCL clubs include Rushden, Stamford and Stevenage.
The UCL is the 8th tier of the English game with (hypothetically) the Cuckoos needing 4 promotions to make the football league!!!
The club competes in the FA Cup every season and in 2006 travelled to Conference club Kettering Town to play in front of over 1000 fans.
For most of the clubs history, the Cuckoos played their matches on the parish council pitches on Middletons Road.
This all changed as we entered the 1990’s with shareholders funding the clubs move to a purpose built site off Holme Road.
The site on Leading Drove was opened when, then Premiership side, Coventry City came to play.
Subesequently turnstiles and a grandstand were erected and as we entered the millenium ambitious plans were revealed to develop the Drove to Southern Football League standard. This would allow Yaxley to be promoted should they win their current league, the UCL Premier Division.
After some inevitable delays, the club is hopeful that work will be commencing shortly on the ambitious project.
Admission to Leading Drove for a home match is £4. Programmes are £1. The proceeds from this go towards the running of Yaxley FC.
So you can watch over three Cuckoos matches to one down the road at Peterborough… good value I’d say.
Home matches kick off at 3pm on a Saturday and 7.45pm midweek.
The usual midweek match night for the first team is Tuesday.
You can read about the upcoming fixtures on the clubs official website
They will also publish details regarding supporters coaches to away matches (where applicable).
Visit the clubs official website for more on membership.
More details and membership forms are available from the bar at Leading Drove Stadium.
