St Ives 3-0 Cuckoos

Yaxley’s difficult run of matches against the top UCL sides continued on a stormy Easter Saturday with a trip to this seasons FA Vase heroes, St Ives Town.

And it was the Saints who emerged victorious although the final scoreline of 3-0 was slightly flattering according to Football Mitoo’s match report.

After an early goal for the hosts, the Cuckoos were in the game until goals in the last few minutes killed them off.

No easter Monday fixture for the first team although the second string will look to get back to winning ways in Stamford tomorrow night when they take on Blackstones.

St. Ives got the result on the day and to be honest, we didn’t look like winning despite an outstanding performance from Blewey who was a shining example of commitment and effort.

The KO was delayed for about 20 minutes whilst the pitch was made playable and credit to the groundsmen for getting it on, but it was not a surface to play football on, and who knows if that may or may not have made a difference?

From a personal point of view, I know that the Cup Final will be a different ball game and that our lads are the underdogs and really up for it.

In the mean time, there are still some league points to collect and I hope that the youngsters get to play their part.
Come on you Cuckoos!!!

The reserve team will likley face a contingent of Blackstones first team players tonight (25th) as some of the regular players side-lined in yesterday’s loss to Deeping will probably get a run out.

I read about that in the paper!

Will be a test for our boys. All the best Seb and the lads!
