Cuckoos News 11/03/08

The first team are in action tomorrow night (storm permitting) against UCL title chasers Stotfold at Leading Drove.

We are getting to the business end of the season now and this cup tie could go either way.

In other news the fall out from the Stotfold vs St Neots match carries on with various non-league websites and publications using the story as an opportunity to bash the UCL. That is a shame because in the main it is a well run competition with a friendly atmosphere at matches. That’s why we come and watch.

In chasing the council regarding an allotment (long story!), news reached my ears that the new Ferndale football pavillion was going to be opened by Duncan Ferguson, latterly of Everton and Rangers. Might be worth checking out when more details emerge (although knowing how sharp I am, it may probably have already happened).

Good luck to all the YFC teams this week in whatever competition they play in. Let’s hope for a clean sweep of wins.

A magnificent team performance from the boys tonight beating champions elect Stotfold 2-0 with goals from Daniel Jacob (2 in 2 games) and Sam Makansi (2 in 3 games).

It’s difficult to single out anybody from this performance, but a special mention to the two scorers, Dan Jacob has been a breath of fresh air for us, and young Sam continues to make an impact in senior football, but the whole squad paid their part in a great performance and we can now look forward to the semi final against Biggleswade United or Huntingdon Town.
