Cuckoos news 15/02/08

A blank weekend for the first team turns the spotlight onto the reserve team.

St Ives getting a 3-3 draw with Needham Market in the Vase last weekend could be a blessing in disguise for Cuckoos supporters.

It has, as reported on Cuckoos Comment earlier in the week, led to the cancellation of tomrrows derby match with the Saints and given the first team a rare weekend off.

This isn’t neccessarily a bad thing as it gives fans an opportunity to head to Leading Drove (instead of going across the county to St Ives) and turn the focus on Seb Hayes and his reserve side.

They face UCL perenials Olney Town and will be looking to close the gap on the divisions leading pack.

Typically a couple of matches behind the other teams, the Cuckoos 2nd string are only 13 points adrift of Stotfold at the summit and will be looking to continue bridging that gap between the U18’s and first team for the clubs crop of young talent.

Why not get yourself down there for a 3pm kick off and see those players bubbling under and looking to force their way into first team manager Gary Clipstons plans?
